Love this spread. So simple, so natural. Love the lighting and treatment of the type.

I figure it is probably a good time to update my blog, since I havent in tooooo long. I work for a company called Singer22.com. It is mostly e-commerce but we also have 2 stores out here in Long Island. For the last 3 months, my job has primarily been to photograph models wearing the clothes we get in shipment everyday, just basic catalogue shots. On our free time (which there unfortunately isnt enough of) we have the opportunity to do some editorial shots for the site leaving it pretty much up to us for the concept, lighting, styling and such. All the photos following this post and in the next few posts are some shots we did for specific designers that the company sells.
I am extremely lucky to work with a ton of great signed models, fab stylists and some really sweet clothes and accessories.

One of the amazing photographers I am trying to connect with for possible jobs. His work is inspirational. Ugh this job thing is so frustrating, i miss beauty dishes.
I think I have my answer for this, but Im curious to see what people think!
First of all, Im bad at this. Unlike a lot of people, I do not resort to writing to express myself, that is why I’m a photographer. But I figure at this point, this blog could be a blog full of my inspirations, just to help keep myself inspired and on track through these tough times.
Well here I am, sitting in my room, at home exactly one week post graduation from college, watching House. I have a contract signed with the studio at the Hearst Corporation but shoots have slowed down, thus not needing me at the moment. Ive spent the last few weeks sending out cover letters and resumes to a handfull of different photographs and studios in the NYC areas, but no bites yet. I can’t even freelance shoot, or take shooting jobs because I don’t have the equipment for it, and can’t afford it till I get a job. So at the moment, life is just one big circle of unemployment.
Its been a bit difficult not being able to work and make money but I understand this process is going to be a bit slow at first because of the amount of jobs available versus the unbelievable amount of people I am competing against. I guess what is most important at this moment is, what can I do that will make me stand out amongst this sea of possible candidates? Do I snail mail or do I email? I guess this whole process has just thrown me for a loop, since this is all new to me, to all of us. Does anyone have any recommendations for websites to find photo jobs in nyc besides for craigslist and mediabistro? I’ve just been sending my coverletters and resumes out to photographers who i would like to work for hoping they need assistants or help in the studio, but I haven’t gotten any replies, is there a place to find out if anyone is looking for assistants? I guess I am just wondering how others are doing this, since its something we never really learned, and the art business isnt always the easiest to break in to.
Anyways, i am going to try and update this everyday with one thing or another.
Till Tomorrow,
B
